Havaianas – actually Portuguese for “Hawaiians” – might be one of Brazil’s most famous exports, but the iconic flip-flops were originally inspired by traditional Japanese Zori sandals, the base of which is typically made of paddy straw. Synonymous with a Brazilian way of life, not to mention a summer suitcase essential, Havaianas are about as must-have as it gets.
